Hi! I read your post in student teaching and thought i would post here. I would not introduce all 3 at once. Especially if you are being observed. You will want your lessons to be simple and easy. Good advice for introducing
any new concept. Because you are teaching about coins, I would start out with the penny. Kinders will better understand that it means 1. Also, depending on your group, creating a store might not be good for observation. Later, without the extra pressure of being observed, I would do this. You can still have them buy something at their seats... but for your first lesson you might
not want to have a store. But if your group can do it, then I would. If you decide not to for your observation lesson- make sure you casually tell your supervisor that this is in your plans.

If you are like me, pennies are all over my house. Collect them and give your kids the real things to work with.

Also, if you have a morning meeting you can put a penny up for each day. This is a good way to introduce the next coins. Count the coins, look for the pattern, etc.

Finally, there is a great science experiment with pennies that you can do. It is with old dirty pennies and working together to get them clean. Great for a lesson on working together as a class. (Water and vinegar or something.) If you are interested, post back and i will find it for you.
