homework calendars
By Sandy

Clip to ScrapBook
Jody-
This is the first year that I started sending home a monthly homework calendar. I made the template in Microsoft Word. I just typed in the month at the top of the page (landscape layout) and then I created a table
with seven columns and six rows. Then I adjusted the rows and columns to fit the page. The first row is for the days of the week. The reason I use a landscape layout is because I put the calendar at the bottom of a 12" x 18" sheet of construction paper. Then the kids do a seasonal art project (January's was a jigsaw mittens cut-and-paste)that I place above the calendar. I laminate the
whole sheet and send it home the first school day of the month. I have saved each month's calendar separately for use next year. I have my lessons plans completed for the month, so some of the activities are directly tied in to what we've done in class. The other activities I get from calendars I find online. Some activities are meant for parents to just spend time with their kid (i.e.: sit on the lawn tonight and watch the stars come out. How many can you count?)
Hope this helps.
