I also have a mandatory rest period for one hour. I used to try to rest after lunch and recess and found that the kids are just too wound up. I found by completing a lesson and pushing rest time back by half an hour that the kids do calm down a bit more calm. Also, you may want to provide treasure boxes( Quiet activities that children can do on their mats.) They must rest quietly for 15 minutes and then they may pick a treasure box. Also, the quietest rester may be the "wakeup" fairy. I hope one of these suggestions will help
