subs
By Gail

Clip to ScrapBook
Those are all good points that will help the children adjust. Now let's think about what your sub needs. Be sure she has a good idea about your schedule and who has what job. Tell her what challenges she will probably be
in for, who has special needs, who has a behavior plan, when specialists are expected, how you handle the use of restrooms, drinks, any duties they may have, where the faculty dining area is and how to order lunch. Keep a class list with special info handy; keep a roster by the door for fire drills; include tips about dismissal. I keep all of this in a folder with some fun work sheets if
needed and a complete written plan which is in my computer and which I edit each time I'm out. I also give the sub permission to change or throw out plans as the situation requires. You might like to include some candy as a little gift. There are probably a million more things but these are some of the things I remember from my subbing days.
