Coloring

Have you modeled how you want them to draw and color? Show them each time how you expect them to work and how to color within the lines and how to draw a picture. Also try doing a "think aloud", as you show them what to do think out loud what you are doing. They will not only see the work but hear the reasoning that goes on in your mind. Look at their birth date, they may not be deveolpmentally ready for these kinds of activities.
