Transitioning until Jan. By Lulu

I have been transitioning into the classroom for about a week. I didn't want the kinders to return to a brand new face they've never seen before. I have met with the curriculum planner and the other K teachers. It is especially| important to clarify what is expected of the replacement teacher. For example, if Building Blocks is being used, then make sure that everyone understands the who, what, why, how and when. Please make the replacement teacher responsible for the classroom, and help him/her to be. Go over those multitudes of forms. Additionally, please put together any hints/tips that address | | school and/or grade level procedures that may be unique. My fellow teachers have set aside review time before we start the new unit. This time will allow me to conference with each child and begin to acquaint myself with learning styles, needs, etc. Perhaps the most important thing is to make the replacement teacher feel welcomed. He/She may want to make changes in the classroom. If there is a teaching assistant, please allow the new teacher to create a workable space without referring to the "ways things used to be." Any new situation can be uncomfortable, but open dialogue can certainly make things run more smoothly. Any information the departing teacher can leave/organize will be appreciated.
