This happened to me my first year teaching, too. I actually used up all of my sick and personal days. I had strep throat three times, the flu once, and a couple of stomach viruses. It does get better! You will eventaully| begin to build up immunities to all of the germs the kids bring in. I use an antibacterial hand cream as well as wash my hands as often as possible. Always remind the kids to cover their mouths when they cough or sneeze. If a child looks sick or has symptoms, send them to the nurse or home. They should not be in school. I get angry when obviously sick kids are sent into school. | | I understand it is hard to find child care, and that parents work, but please, keep sick kids home! You can also increase your vitamin C, drink lots of water, eat lots of fruit, and try to get out for a 20 minute walk once a day. Another teacher I know swears by keeping the windows open to let the room air out (I get too cold for this one). Although I don't get sick as often as I did at first, I find that when I actually have a few days to relax, that is when I tend to get sick. Any ideas as to why this is? I usually spend school holidays in bed. Oh well. At least I don't have to plan for a sub...
