now is the time
By It is worth it

Now is the time to focus on the positives. Just like everyone else I have been very stressed this year. I spend Sunday mornings looking through the help wanted ads!

To get myself through it all I have been tossing half
of the paperwork into the trash can (not anything essential- just all the stuff that takes up so much of your time to read through and fill out that no one looks at anyway) I have also been trying to be positive.
One of the greatest things about teaching is when you realize that your kids have learned something. At the end of a bad day I try to focus on the little events that show my

kids are learning and try not to think of all the negatives.

The second best thing about teaching is the fact that we have vacations! Thanksgiving is coming up, and right around the corner is Christmas. I don't know about the rest of you, but once I pass Jan. June arrives in no time! Which leads me to the third greatest thing about teaching (after summer vacation of course)

The fact that you start all over again the next year. You have new kids, maybe a new classroom, new ideas you are dying to put into action, everything is new! A fresh start! What other job do you get to start fresh every year!?!

While this time of the year is the pits, this is also the time of the year to look at all the great things we do and love about teaching. And while we are among the lowest paid profesionals in this country and (I have to say) the hardest working, we really have one of the most emotionally rewarding jobs! Yes, it is worth it -I just wish we got paid more
