grades
By Carolyn

Clip to ScrapBook
I have found that in a nine-week reporting period, one to two grades a week provide enough supporting evidence for a child's performance. I generally strive for two per week for math and reading, and one for the other subject
areas. With this number of grades, no one could argue that the grade could have been better than it was. There is too much of a sampling for that argument to be withheld. You can get those grades for a variety of sources to support your grading: quizzes, tests, projects, essays, posters, etc.

The best way to simply grade reporting is to complete your grades on the computer.

The computer programs which are commercially available do all of the averaging for you on an on-going basis so that you don't have the headache at the end of the reporting period of coming up with averages with all of those grades. I am using Works, which is on my computer. Other teachers use other programs.
