I Am SOOO Glad You Said This
By also in the same situation

Clip to ScrapBook
I have thought the exact same thing about wanting to do a mediocre job, too. It's like when you stay until 6:00 and come in on the weekends, yet you still get harassed for all the things you DON'T do, do you even want to
try?

I, personally, am very frustrated by a principal who picks on me. From other situations I can tell that this is a very passive agressive man. He lets parents and kids walk all over him, and he doesn't boss around most of the teachers, but he seems to take out all his need to be controlling on new people. This guy is a creep. He'll call you into his office at the last minute,

acting like it's some big emergency. When you ask what it's about (as he is seemingly alarmed), he gets mad. He says he doesn't want to hear you talk back or apologize for anything when he criticizes you ... then he lets loose ... then he insists that you smile and give him a hug. Ick.

My district has a very high turnover rate, and they often stress the need to keep new teachers. But with a salary schedule that does not reward longevity, a difficult urban population, and idiots like this principal, is it any wonder people look elsewhere?
