Get over it. I am direct and to the point. I said things you may not have liked to have heard but I was honest with you. Your choice of words to describe your students IS important. I didn't say you were a bad person| for doing so - I only asked you how it was helpful to use those terms and what sterotypes those words carried with it. I also never said you should never use any punishment. I said that to think punishing your kids who have more severe behavior problems would not result in any improvements (most likely) - if that is ALL you intend to do. I did offer you suggestions. I suggested you | | rethink how you categorize your students, that they speak to a counselor (even though you said this wouldn't work it WAS a suggestion), and that you consider doing research on your question. Those were my suggestions to you. No I did not stand up and say Rah Rah on your behalf. I said some things that were probably not plesant to hear but that I felt needed to be said. If you are not willing to look inside yourself and question your beliefs and how that influences your teaching then there is nothing I can do.As for recess, physical education is a part of the school day. I understand you cannot go outside because of safety issues. Therefore, if Fun Friday is used as way to provide P.E. then everyone should be allowed to participate. If it is used a a reward that does not connect to state/district standards then there is a problem. One hour, every Friday, to take off and do whatever is fun is not acceptable by my standards. I don't see the need to continue this conversation. You are happy and comfortable in your bubble.
