I think it is important that you don't base your effectiveness as a teacher on how prepared you feel your kids are for the SAT's. I assume you teach high school? Think of this...these kids have had anywhere from 8 to 11 years
of school before they set foot in your classroom. It is not your job to teach them to the SAT's. And especially not if there is just a huge amount that you feel they don't know. They have been building this knowledge for years, and for you to undertake a game of catchup, last minute in junior or senior year, is unrealistic. I know some places standardized testing is big and pushed
heavily, but just remember that you have so much more to do than prep your kids for stand. tests. If you think "wow, these kids have learned!" then you can be sure you are teaching effectively
