I also had the problem of my boy not minding if he went to the office. This wasn't because the principal was too soft on him, but because he just doesn't think the rules apply to him. When I needed a break from him (and
my other kids did too) I would find a couple teachers that didn't mind him working in their rooms. I found more than one so I didn't always send him to the same room. Away from his peers, he suddenly didn't have anyone to entertain. I am also lucky enough that I have several "teacher's kids" whose mothers didn't mind taking him to help out. I also found (after a heart to heart) that
my principal was actually more supportive of me than I thought she was. I also keep a log of problems or good days. This will help when they finally do get around to testing him. It will also show everything that you have done to help him in the regular classroom. I also send a note home nightly to let his mother know how his day was (not that she ever sees it).
