Teacher blamed for student behavior. By Ernie Lozano

While we as teachers all know that every year a teacher is presented with a different class of students, there are simple things any teacher can do to minimize the behavioral interruptions of students no matter the students| they have. I don't feel you have set and communicated clear guidelines of your expectations to your students. All effective teachers set clear guidelines from day one and follow through on consequences if they are not followed. It seems your class is made up of many at-risk students. A lot of your students' behaviors may be from the inability of them to take any personal meaning from | | your lessons. Find something they are interested in and design your lessons around it. You need to establish some centers, activities, or even computer time for those students who finish work early. The big word for any educator is routines, routines, routines. The sooner you set routines for your classroom, the sooner your frustrations will start to disappear.
