Reward even the little things.

Clip to ScrapBook
I have had days where I felt like some of my students were "selectively hearing-imnpaired." It drove me nuts bc they were the students who REALLY needed to listen and follow directions. Meet with your administrator or a mentor and gather ideas for a discipline plan/behavior contract. Have that same individual come and speak to your class. As long as you get permission and back-up with this, you will have more people in your corner. Hold the students accountable for their behavior. Keep in steady contact with their parents. If you have access to a phone in your room, give the child an ultimatum - "you are calling _____ at home/ work or I am." Let us know how you are doing!
