Need to find out.
By teacher

Clip to ScrapBook
I really would find out exactly what my job responsbilities are. If you sign a contract it might outline your job duties there...or ask your principal. I know that at my last school my principal expected the assistant to
work WITH the kids in small groups and one-on-one teaching. She did NOT want to walk in the room and see the assistant grading papers, etc. Your school and principal might expect you to actual work with the kids, and if this is the case, then you are are not being utilized in the expected way. In my new school, assistants are used very rarely to actually HELP THE KIDS....which is why i
really think that they are there. Anyway, that is another story. I don't know if I have helped you here, but I did want to give a different perspective on the expectations of assistants in different schools/school districts. Some expect different things than others. If yours is one that expects you to work with the kids...then I think your teacher is in the wrong here. Just my opinion. Good luck! (could you ask for a transfer to a different teacher next year?)
