Helpful or not By Grace

Hello there, Sorry to hear you had a bad time last week. Just another point of view for you to think about. The policy in our school is that discipline is a whole school issue and affects everyone. We have actually been| told that if we see a child or children messing about, it is up to us to say something, whether the children are in our class or not. Even after teaching for a long time I would still have times when another teacher comes to tell me that someone in my class has been breaking the rules. This is fine by me because I know that I can't watch every child every minute of the day. I will then | | speak to the child myself when the other teacher leaves the room. If the children told me that another teacher was watching them I would try to persuade them to really impress Mrs ? and show her how sensible they can be. Perhaps because she is close by she has been asked to look out for you. Discipline is something you have to learn about as you go along. Perhaps she has seen you struggle and is trying to help you out. She may even have been in the same position when she was just starting out and knows what you are going through. I really don't think she would be trying to undermine your authority. Just try to accept that no matter how long you are teaching, children will get up to mischief when they are out of your sight. Try and give this woman the benefit of the doubt. Thank her for her help and perhaps you could suggest that if she sees anyone else misbehaving outside the class that she sends in a little note so that you can chastise the child yourself. Very best of luck and it will get better. Grace
