Clip to ScrapBook
I also teach at an inner city school. What I have learned in the 3 years there is that there usually is no home support but I have learn to just talk and be firm with the kids.. The first 2years I screamed and fussed all
day. I felt like I was never able to teach. Talking, being firm and not giving an inch works.. I also started to take away recess and any fun activities that we do as a class. The ones that can not listen will not get to participate. This is not a solution, I still have problems but they are not as bad.. I am also very consistant in what I do. Like I said I don't give an inch because
they will take a mile. I have also read an article on this site about a teacher who had similar problems and she decided to shut down her class. I don't know all the details on how it worked but the article was on here somewhere...good luck....
