mid-year resignation By ck

I am a new teacher this year, and have "hit bottom" a few times when I really had to drag myself out of bed, pop Excedrin for the stress headache & smile broadly for all my little ones like nothing was the matter. But I keep going back. I only have 80-something more days of school. I have been teaching for a little more than 100. I figure, I'm on the downhill side of thte slope now. First years are ALWAYS the hardest and I promised myself two years in this position before I decide if I want "out". I teach Early Childhood Special Ed and although I am certified in Early Childhood, I did not major in | | Spec Ed; I only have "an endorsement" because I took a class in exceptional children. They knew thie when they hired me! They have been helpful in getting me to attend workshops, etc. that are helping me understnd my little charges better each day.Resigning in mid-year is a MAJOR decision, that must be weighed very carefully. It took me 13 years to get this degree & I'm going to give myself time to work my way through this less than ideal situation. Perhaps you can make it until the end of the year. Think about it. MOre than half the years over...we're on the downslope...we can almost glide from here. Think positively. You are not alone! Good Luck!
