wasted time

I have a timer that I set each time I need to wait for the class to settle down. I start it and stop it when they are settled. I don't clear the accumulated time. If the class wastes 5 or more minutes, they have a homework assignment. They must write "When I waste time I cheat myself out of learning." 50 times. They don't waste time often because they HATE to write sentences.
