Stick it Out By Jennifer

I completely understand exactly what you are going through, and I think the majority of us have dealt with it at least once in our careers. I am only a third year teacher and had to deal with it for my first two years of| teaching. I actually never did anything wrong, I just rubbed my principal the wrong way. I think that I went to her concerned about the lack of materials to teach social studies and since I teach gifted students, she was concerned that I was requesting a textbook. Well...how else do you learn about social studies. They need something to read from. We can springboard from the book and | | extend with other activities to meet their needs outside of the book. Well anyways...it was downhill from there. Everything I did, she didn't like. If a parent would complain (only 2 really awful demanding parents) it would be my fault. I eventually had to get myself out of that place before I lost my mind...and possibly my job. I went to another school district and now I am really happy with my new principal. Sometimes you just have to hang in there. Try not to take your principal so personally. You need to just try your best to let it roll off and keep to yourself. Try the suggestions of being in contact with your parents more so that you keep them happy...to a minimum though. There are still rules and expectations. You keep doing the hard work and putting in the hours and just keep telling yourself that your focus is your kids not HIM! You are doing your job to the best of your ability and forget the role that he plays in it.
