finishing and turning in work
By 4th grade, too

Clip to ScrapBook
Here's what I do, and it seems to motivate my class pretty well. I have cut out the letters H-O-M-E-W-O-R-K in big letters. I attached a magnet to each one so they stick to the chalkboard. Each day that EVERYONE in the class turns in assignments, they earn a letter. When HOMEWORK is spelled, we celebrate! Usually with a "celebration" (I don't call them parties!) like a video, extra recess time, etc. I let the class vote on which fun activity they'd like. I am amazed at the encouragement my students give each other. It has really increased responsibility in my classroom. Good luck!
