resignation on resume
By Melissa

Clip to ScrapBook
Actually, I left that job off of my resume altogether. I had only worked in the school for two months, so I explained to the interviewer that I had 1) moved and left my one position at the end of 1998 (not a lie); 2) not
found a job in the fall of 1998 that I was interested in (also true). I worked in September and October in that school. I had decided that the best way to handle it was to state that I had not found a position that I was interested in and had taken a job in another career. However, I told the interviewer that the career was only temporary--I was not meant to work throughout my entire
life in a department store--teaching was where I really belonged. That seemed to be accepted.

You can skirt around issues which may make you look bad by telling the truth, but in a way that doesn't make you look bad.
