First week back - Wow
By Cathy-Dee

Clip to ScrapBook
What a way to start the school year, but it sure sounds like you handled everything exactly the way it should have been handled.

Hopefully he won't have another seizure, but sometimes they can start up for no apparent reason.
At least you know you can handle it, but it was probably scary as well at the same time.

We had a student in grades 6 upwards who went into seizures. She's been out for testing, etc., and no one seems to know what causes them. Some doctors feel she brings them on herself - gets herself worked up and then goes into a seizure. I think she is doing better now in Jr High, but the

first 2-3 times were frightening, then we got used to them and were able to handle them better.

Perhaps it wouldn't hurt to have a public nurse come in to explain seizures and what to do to your class and even to the other teachers (recess times, etc.,) so that if this student or any others ever have a seizure, everyone knows what to do.
