stick with it
By Chantal

Clip to ScrapBook
All I can say is stick with it as it does pay off in the end. Because it is such a hassle when they first start to use cursive, it takes more time and energy but.... as the year progresses, the students get very proficient!

I now teach 5th grade and my class has been required to write in cursive since the first day of school for EVERYTHING! lots of grumbles later, the handwriting has improved, the fatigue from recalling letters is gone as they now write naturally, just like they did in print earlier in the year.
Keep in mind, the complainers and whiners you have now are just there hoping that
you will give up; they stop eventually!
I am a firm believer in taking the time now. Remember how long it took to get K and 1st grade students to write legibly with letters facing the right way and written in porportion? Plus, now the Know-it-alls who say teachers aren't even teaching kids cursive anymore need to find something else to gripe about!
