Master's By Robin

Our district pays for about 1 1/2 courses a year, but it varies from district to district. When I taught in New York state, they would give you a 3 credit tuition certificate to any of the state colleges if you hosted a student| teacher. I agree that it is very expensive , and having received my Master's at a state college here in NJ, I do not feel that the learning I obtained justified the expense. However, because it meant a significant jump on the salary guide, I had to do it. My advice is to bite the bullet and get it when you are as young as possible. You will maximize your earnings, and if you could |
| do it before you have children, so much the better. It is expensive, but you can do it slowly. Most colleges allow 5 years to get it, and maybe that's even negotiable depending on your circumstances. Good luck!
