state legislatures By Ann

I don't believe that the state legislatures know more than we do. We, the teachers, are the experts on our professsion, not politicians in the state capitals who succumb to public opinion about what is wrong with public education. I don't think there is another profession that is so highly regulated and that has so many confusing bureaucratic requirements on how to enter the field and get certified and then how to stay certified once you're there. The message the legislatures are giving us is that we are not to be trusted.
