consequences
By Karoleigh

Clip to ScrapBook
Some consequences I have tried:

The usual - first offense (after warning) - half of recess; second offense - all of recess, note or phone call home; third offense - a DEFINITE phone call home; fourth offense - a visit to
the principal. The way I handle this depends upon the level of infraction. I wouldn't consider sending a child to the office if he won't stop talking. However, I might consider sending him to another teacher's classroom for "time-out" if he won't stop talking or bothering other students. Now if a child is extremely disruptive and disorderly in conduct, disrespectful to me or the other
students, or fighting, I don't give him/her so many chances to lose recess. I do send the child straight to the office. I let the children know that I don't hesitate to contract their parents when they misbehave, and I have been known to take children to the telephone to call their parents when I have the time. (We are lucky to have a phone nearby!)
