Teaching to tests
By Testy Teacher

Clip to ScrapBook
My advice to you is to get out. Not only are teachers underpaid, but we are supposed to teach lovey dovey lessons and then expect our kids to score so well on the tests.

I am a second career teacher, and I am just too old
to put up with such crap. With my degree I could be selling pharmaceuticals for 90-100K a year, driving myself around with no principal squawking in my ear.

People are screaming about tests scores. If the American education system is so bad, then why is every nation in the world clamoring to get their students into school here? Like any statistic, test results can be interpreted to

mean many things to many people. I am feeling pressure up the but for tests scores. I am given a checklist of things to teach. I have to have my entire school year taught before March -- so that I will have everything covered for the test.

I just don't see how teachers deal with this. I think they just get certified for administration and get out only to turn the tables on their former colleagues.

Totally put out...
