I think it depends ...

I agree that there are many situations where new teachers are given a balanced class like anybody else (or at least the powers that be tried to make it balanced). However, in upper elementary, middle school, or high school settings, students are often tracked, and it does seem the new teachers often get the most difficult track. Older teachers who have been there forever feel they have put in their time and deserve honors classes, so the new people get whatever is left over.
