the pressure is on
By Leisa

Clip to ScrapBook
It's possible your principal is just a jerk....or it could be that he is feeling the pressure. We're familiar with the accountability we all feel as teachers, how stressed we are to perform - well, principals get as much
if not more. He is probably taking what he gets dished out to him at principal meetings and passing it on to his staff. If he was smart, he'd realize that good morale is important and he isn't achieving that. Is it possible that as a staff you could suggest he put these requests in a memo instead? He'd probably hit the roof, but maybe you could discuss with the other teachers what you
might be able to do to make the meetings more productive or what you could do to dissuade him from being so negative. At any rate, try not to take it so personally - it's probably just that he is just getting so much pressure to perform himself. Don't we, as teachers, pass our pressure to perform on to the kids? Hopefully, we'll find a way to expect the kids to do their best without jumping on them, like the principal does his teachers.
