student apathy causes

A huge factor in student apathy is lack of parental involvement. If education is not valued at home, the child is left to wonder if going to school is even important. I sometimes feel like a few of the parents of my students consider school a babysitting service. Nothing bothers me more than when a student does not CARE about his or her progress. I would love to be a fly on the wall in some of these households, you know?
