Homework
By Shannon

Clip to ScrapBook
Shoot, if these parents WANT their kid to do work, don't worry. I wish some of my parents would enforce homework at home.

I teach fifth grade. I was very set on nightly homework because I think it enforces the concept learned in school. However, we have a lot of pull-outs and do a complicated team teaching setup, so it was getting to where students didn't know/pay attention to assignments or weren't there to turn them in. Now I do a weekly packet. I have a cover page that lists important announcements and due dates, and breaks down the homework into nightly assignments so kids can do their homework in responsible chunks if desired. Although it is a pain to make, it has really helped kids turn in more work and study for tests.
