I break up calendar time by counting. First we count by fives to 100 (holding up one hand on the fives and both hands on the tens). Then we count by tens to 100 (opening and closing both hands on the tens). After that, we count to 100 by ones. We march and then jump once on tens. That gives them some movement time and then they are ready for more sit down instruction.
