"the racial aspect"
By Amanda

Clip to ScrapBook
Maria, I mention the racial aspect for 2 reasons. First, because in the situation I am in at my school where my principal told me that when I was hired the parents were concerned because "their children know nothing of 'white' people other than what they see on television." I was not trying to imply that all schools are that way. Second, I believe race is an issue in this case because of things my students have said and the kinds of questions they ask me. I don't blame them for it and it doesn't really matter to me one way or another WHY they think we are dating, I was just trying to get some feedback as to how to answer their comments.
