Hi Kim:

Telling your students that they will have a different teacher is not silly to me. You seem like a thoughtful person. Your subs must appreciate you.

What I wanted to share with you is my experience today. I
was subbing in a 3rd grade classroom; I'd never subbed there before. For some reason, this class was very curious about me. They asked all kinds of questions (appropriate ones). Then this one little guy asks: "Were you ever a real teacher?"
I don't know how I kept from laughing, but I did. I told him that I am a REAL teacher now. I also told them that I have similar training as

their teacher.

I just thought his question was cute in a way. It does reflect many of the students' perception of subs, however. They don't think of us as real teachers.
