What a day!
By Elaine

Clip to ScrapBook
Frustrated,
It was a crazy day, talk, talk, talk!

However, I have some good news to report. I've been reading some posts about how to cut back on amounts of work done and time spent on school things. Several people
mentioned to have students do more to help with organization, cleaning up, etc. Now I already knew that, but I definitely needed the reminder.

Sooooo, today during our study time (when students are pulled out for speech and resource reading, etc.), I handed out some packages of bulletin board letters I have been planning to punch out f-o-e-v-e-r. I had many, many packs of those little

square letters I planned to use on my word wall. They not only needed punching out, but in order to be able to use them efficiently, they had to be sorted, put into ziploc baggies, and filed alphabetically. After punching out, kids were up, sorting and bagging. It was great. A job that could have taken me who-knows-how-long, took them only 20 minutes or so.

Tomorrow, I am going to assign groups a word list, have them get the letters needed to make the words for our board, and with my assistance, we'll get our word wall all completed!

I am really planning to do centers during our half-hour Study Time (which is more likely to be "Let's Waste Some Time" instead of "Study Time" these days), but for the next few days, until I get some things organized, I am going to "use" those little darlings! I think staying busy is the best answer to the "Off the Wall" syndrome that hits at this time of year.

Just had to share my success! I am feeling very good about getting something done for a change!
Elaine
