spending money
By Miranda

Clip to ScrapBook
I am almost one of those compulsives. I love to buy stuff for my kids. One of the things is that I work in a Title I school and most of my kids come from low-income homes. I am an experienced teacher with a Master's degree
and a good salary. I would not be surprised to find out that I make more than their parents' combined.

Some things I buy: some supplies (if I run out of what's provided for me), copy paper (I ALWAYS run out of that), construction paper, pocket folders (the kids' start getting ratty and I hate to ask the parents to buy more), weekly treats for those who are well behaved, etc. I

estimate that I probably spend about 50-100 per month on stuff for the classroom and the kids. When you are an experienced teacher, or if you change grade levels, you need new stuff from time to time. I get tired of the old stuff, which loses its fresh appearance after awhile. I now have a large collection of books for the kids and teacher resources, however. That saves me from buying those. (I buy "Mailbox.")

I think that most of us spend money on our kids, some more than others.
