quitting By Melissa

It is really awkward, quitting a job. I once quit a teaching job in which I was totally miserable at the end of October. My reasons were varied. They included: negativity on the part of the administration (why CAN'T you| control those kids!!!) and lack of support from administration, a horrible class (mostly ADHD, special ed, and ESL--a bad mix) with a reputation since Kindergarten, and my classroom itself (terribly small for such a large group of students--33). I was one of those who woke up sick every morning. I also had a 50 minute drive to get to school, something else I hated. The school day started | | at 7:15, and I am just not an early morning person. Overall, the experience was totally unsatisfactory for me. I felt isolated and stressed out. The administrators did not seem to understand, or care about, my situation. The parents would not help, either. One thing I want to tell you is that there may be ANOTHER teaching job out there which you might like better. Not all teaching jobs are the same. I went back after one semester off (and time to think about if I wanted to be a teacher). My new job was better than my last. You may want to take some time off from teaching, then return to school again after some time to think about it.
