Mom threw out the meds?
By Tammy

Clip to ScrapBook
What was her reason for getting rid of the medication? Was it helping? Did it have serious or dangerous side effects? How is his behavior different when he is on the medication? Does the doctor know she threw away the
medication? If you can prove that he was better with the medication and it had no dangerous side effects, I would document this and talk to the parents again. If they understand how impossible it really is for you to teach effectively under these circumstances maybe they would reconsider. I've had parents take their kids off such medications before but the children were at points in
their lives where they were ready to handle it. If a problem arose after that we dealt with it in other ways. In one case the child did revert back to the bad behavior and his grades dropped so we decided together that he wasn't ready to stop the medication yet. He was put back on it a few weeks later.
