I can understand all too well what you are talking about. What I especially hate is the pressure to raise test scores under the circumstances which you describe. My scores were among the poorest in the district in math,
and this was blamed on me. However, the problem which gets blamed on us is not really about us. It is about the poor parenting we have to deal with. Imagine that my parents were not concerned enough to even ASK for their child's report card when it didn't come home. They never came in for a conference. I thnk that they really and truly believe that all they have to do is send their
kids to school each day and that ends their responsibility to their kids.

I also hate the so-called "accountability." We are threatened all of the time about our scores. I went to a workshop last week, and the district office people kept harping on how we were going to be a "top ten in the state" district and how we were going to be held responsible for the kids' scores. Truly, I believe that these people who complain about us and our scores should get off of their comfortable desk chairs, stop pushing paper, get off of the computer they spend the day with, and come back into the classroom to teach!!!!!

Let's face it, it IS frustrating trying to teach when you do face what we do every day.
