reading groups By Rita

one strategy that works for me is have my reading groups by color. So If I have a blue, yellow, red and green group then the work they get kept in color folders. My groups have a reading work folder which they are to work| in while I do direct instruction in small groups. I also mark those papers on the top with a corresponding color pen so I know can tell immediately which group that student is with. I also use the program Read Naturally which has tapes and short non-fiction reading selections. This way, we rotate through out the week. If work is not caught up by Friday then students miss Friday Free | | time to complete their work. hang in there it takes a while to get a system that you feel comfortable with. All of us are continually refining how we work with our reading groups!
