reading groups
By Rita

Clip to ScrapBook
one strategy that works for me is have my reading groups by color. So If I have a blue, yellow, red and green group then the work they get kept in color folders. My groups have a reading work folder which they are to work
in while I do direct instruction in small groups. I also mark those papers on the top with a corresponding color pen so I know can tell immediately which group that student is with. I also use the program Read Naturally which has tapes and short non-fiction reading selections. This way, we rotate through out the week. If work is not caught up by Friday then students miss Friday Free
time to complete their work. hang in there it takes a while to get a system that you feel comfortable with. All of us are continually refining how we work with our reading groups!
