Hi Kim,
While I don't have too many answers for you-fitting in, racial/religious differences, drugs, sex, alcohol, violence, difficult family situations are all things my boys and I have discussed. One of the most powerful ways to 'dialogue' with kids is through a book. There are MANY great ones on all these themes, you can choose to read a passage, chapter, or picture book to connect with them. Best of luck. ;-D
