It's great that you're going to start letting your kids choose in literature circles. I have found that I have far more success when let them choose. (Duh! Maybe they'll actually do the reading if they're interested?) I just don't have enough text sets to group by theme or author, so I don't. Although there may be some advantages to grouping the texts this way, I don't think it's necessary!
