Team Teaching
By Robert

Clip to ScrapBook
I have taught 5th grade for 23 years, and myself and another teacher have begun to explore this topic as well. However, we have not found a lot of information to support this idea one way or the other. One of the problems
that my principal sees with the concept is that it only seems to come up when a particular teacher has what is perceived as a "bad/rowdy" class. From my experience, I feel a teacher is much better off with the self contained classroom for the following reasons:
Integration of all subject areas

More organization- students are not flipping in and out of classroom. (too much stress).

Only

one set of parents to keep in contact with. This allows more "individualized treatment" with parents/students.

Scheduling conflicts between teachers. Often times teachers are more effective in one area at a different time of day than other. For example you might not like to teach science in the morning, but your team teacher might. It could lead to many disruptions which might alter your productivity.

If you find anything to support team teaching, feel free to pass it along.
