Isn't that the point??? How can you teach when there are so many distractions and interruptions? You can't!!! No one is getting anything and that doesn't help either. Have you thought about inviting the principal into your room and letting him/her teach for 1/2 a day? That should open up his eyes. The kids might be good at the beginning, but that would soon change. Why should we let the "inmates run the prison"? I always tell my kids, it's my way or the highway. I wouldn't worry about writing too many office referrals at this point, just get you major offenders out of the classroom - sometimes all it takes is removing 1 or 2 kids and the whole class will settle down. Keep in touch and let us know how it goes - luckily we have spring break this week!
