Guided Reading resources

The above poster is correct. There is a difference between guided reading and literature circles. Guided reading can take place in a lit circle, but they are not the same things!

The 4 block method of teaching reading can explain this concept wonderfully. Scholastic produces the series (I think) and it is a wonderful teacher resource. It is divided into various grades so that you can adjust things to your students' level.
The book Guided Reading: Good First Teaching for All Children by Irene C. Fountas and Gay Su Pinnell (Heinemann Publishers, 1996) is also a super resource. Fountas and Pinnell are the "gurus" of guided reading!

Let me know if I can help you more!
