Try liccorice...is that spelled right? :)

I did a lesson with some students on metric measurements. I made a sheet with measurements and cardinal directions. They had to measure the liccorice and then put it in the cardinal direction I said. I had a center point for them to start on. Then after they did all the measurements with the liccorice it made a picture...and of course they could eat it. It's better to you that pull and peel Twizzlers and not the hard liccorice. It pulls apart easily. I mixed up the measurements so that they weren't all the same. The kids really began to understand metric units and I think they liked that they got to eat too Good Luck!! Laura
