Middle school licensure
By Laura

Clip to ScrapBook
I am not sure if it is this way in all states but in Ohio they have a Middle Childhood Licensure program (4-9th grade). 7 and 8th are the key grades most people in this program want to teach. No one in Ohio wants 4th or
6th because of the Proficiency Tests. Most new teachers in Ohio get 4th or 6th just because the experienced ones don't want to deal with the tests. I will admit...I am in this licensure program and I can't stand 7-9. I would much rather work with the 4-6 graders. Mostly because of the whole hormonal thing. Puberty can get really nasty. Plus I am only 20 and will only be just turned
22 when I start teaching so I look like I could be an 8th grader

But yeah back to the thread...move to Ohio. THey need all kinds of 4-6th grade teachers. You have to deal with the profieciencies, but it's only 1 week out of the year Hope I didn't ramble on too much. I am pre-service and haven't quite gotten the hang of summing information up yet C-YA!!! Good luck!!!
