At my school we will be adding 5th grade to our middle school. We will be a 5-8 building. The best thing about this is that we will have activity nights for 5 & 6 and dances for 7 & 8. The 6th graders are just to young to be at these dances, even though they are right after school. All they do is run around and act like they should, but the 7th and 8th graders think they are sooo young. I think it will be much better splitting the activities. I have a son who will be in 5th grade next year and I don't think I would let him go to a dance after chaperoning (spelling?) a dance.
